I am honoured to be featured my  friend Nicky Almasy's documentary film which was first screened at Hiyakat in Penang, and then at Ideas International School in Kuala Lumpur.

The following is a description of the film:

Dir. Nicky Almasy | Malaysia | 2023

Duration: 30 mins

This short documentary portrays Komeil Zarin, the exiled Iranian painter who has found refuge, home and friendship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The film documents the conflict that comes from not having a permanent home, to live ever on standby while still creating incredible art to reflect it all back. Through his story, which starts out in revolutionary Iran and continues in Malaysia, Komeil depicts a real struggle of an artist in modern times.

I am honoured to be one of three persons featured in Amin Kamrani's documentary film The Person Within the Frames, alongside Amal Haj Sleman and Asif Ali.

This documentary was initially created for a 2022 event on refugees in Malaysia, funded by the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network. This version is a new cut of the film, released in 2024.

I am really happy to share my latest project in collaboration with REF Malaysia (Refugee Emergency Fund). I will draw digital portraits of you or your loved ones based on your cherished photos, and you will receive a high resolution file.

PRICING: Each face will be priced at RM300. This means that a single person's portrait will be 300, while a couple's portrait (whether together or separate) will be double the amount.

ABOUT REF: REF is a refugee-led nonprofit in Malaysia that crowdfunds for emergency cases faced by refugees, asylum seekers, and undocumented migrants. Established in 2017, REF has supported over 2000 cases and raised 1.5 million Ringgit for various needs such as medical emergencies, delivery costs, rental support, burial expenses, food aid, and education. Their mission also goes beyond financial assistance as they actively strive to advocate for affordable and quality healthcare and livelihood opportunities for refugees in Malaysia.

As someone who has experienced exile for the past 12 years, I stand with all those who have been forced to flee their homelands. I hope that you will join me in this meaningful endeavour to make a small difference together.
